My name is Dr. Jeffrey Snead D.C. I am chiropractor with an established practice since 2003, in Hendersonville, TN. I am located in the Hazel Path Commons (near the Sears Outlet) on Main Street. I am a 1997 graduate of Life University of Marietta, GA. I practice the chiropractic technique of Pressure Point Therapy, which uses ancient acupressure trigger points to release tension and increase the circulation of blood to affected areas.

Subluxation
Subluxation (a.k.a. Vertebral Subluxation) is when one or more of the bones of your spine (vertebrae) move out of position and create pressure on, or irritate spinal nerves. Spinal nerves are the nerves that come out from between each of the bones in your spine. This pressure or irritation on the nerves then causes those nerves to malfunction and interfere with the signals traveling over those nerves.
How does this affect you? Your nervous system controls and coordinates all the functions of your body. If you interfere with the signals traveling over nerves, parts of your body will not get the proper nerve messages and will not be able to function at 100% of their innate abilities. In other words, some part of your body will not be working properly.

In Real Life
Take for example your sinuses; they are
connected to your brain via the nervous system. Theoretically, a
sinus problem arises is there is an irritation or obstruction along
the nerve that speeds up or slows down the flow of energy. When the
obstruction is removed, the energy flow becomes regular and your
sinuses begin to function normally again. How is the obstruction
removed? The answer to this question depends upon where the pressure
is located along the nerve. Once pinpointed, Pressure Point Treatment
in the area will remove the blockage and allow the body to resume
functioning normally.

Analogy
The analogy of a hose
and the garden makes this concept easier to understand. If you were
to place your thumb partially across the opening of a garden hose,
you would increase the pressure and rate at which the water flows
through the hose. This increase pressure could wash away the soil and
damage your plants. If the hose is pinched or totally obstructed, no
water will flow. With no water, your plants will wither and die. Once
all obstructions are removed from the hose, the water can resume it's
normal flow. With adequate water flow the garden will be healthy and
prosper. This is exactly how Pressure Point Therapy works!

Tension
Tension accumulates
around pressure points. When a muscle is chronically tight or
spasming, the muscle fibers contract from lactic acid build up caused
by fatigue, trauma, stress, chemical imbalances, or poor circulation.
As a pressure point is held and then released, the muscle tension
releases, enabling the fibers to elongate and relax, blood to flow
freely, and toxins to be released and eliminated from the body. The
subsequent increased circulation will then bring more oxygen and
other nutrients to the affected areas.
