Tension accumulates
around pressure points. When a muscle is chronically tight or
spasming, the muscle fibers contract from lactic acid build up caused
by fatigue, trauma, stress, chemical imbalances, or poor circulation.
As a pressure point is held and then released, the muscle tension
releases, enabling the fibers to elongate and relax, blood to flow
freely, and toxins to be released and eliminated from the body. The
subsequent increased circulation will then bring more oxygen and
other nutrients to the affected areas.
